SPEAK OUT

Welcome to Grade 3 You Decide

Weekly Reader Grade 3

My school is holding a coat drive. My family doesn’t have any extra coats to give, but I still want to help with the project. What should I do?

Dear Weekly Reader,

You could just help. That works.

-Ryan

Dear Weekly Reader,

If you don’t have any spare coats, make a small money donation. It may not be a coat, but it will help.

-Ashleigh

Dear Weekly Reader,

Hi. My name is Haley. I decided you could ask all your friends and see if any of them can give a coat to you so you can participate in the coat drive.

-Haley

Dear Weekly Reader,

I would ask my extended family members if they have any coats that they could donate. Maybe see if a store would donate a coat also.

-Andrew

Dear Weekly Reader,

You could help pack them in boxes, or ask what else they needed help with.

-Randalyn

Dear Weekly Reader,

I think you should ask to pass out coats instead of giving people coats.

-Deasia

Dear Weekly Reader,

We think that if she doesn’t have any coats to give that she could volunteer her time to help with the project. She could take up the coats and pack them in a box for the project.

-Mrs. Woodring's 3rd grade class

Dear Weekly Reader,

I would call all of my family and friends to see if they had any coats to give away. Sometimes coat drives also need other things like blankets, hats, and scarves.

-Naomi

Dear Weekly Reader,

I would ask my friends if they had any extra coats that they don’t wear anymore and if I could have one to donate.

-Elizabeth

Dear Weekly Reader,

Our 3rd grade class decided that we would ask family members and neighbors for coat donations.

-Ms. Waterman’s 3rd grade class

Dear Weekly Reader,

I think she should make a hot cocoa stand to sell hot cocoa and use the money to buy coats for the coat drive.

-Bryant

Dear Weekly Reader,

Even if you don’t have a coat to donate, you can make posters and tell people about the project.
