Student Writer
Student Writer is an ambitious wordsmith. Traveling along at a bright young age (roughly between the years of 12 and 18), Student Writer dreams, writes, and is proud to be the single most important contributor to WORD.

  Bryon Cahill
Bryon
Bryon is the senior editor of READ Magazine. His whole life has been devoted to reading. In fact, he started reading before he was even born! Back in the middle ages, when Bryon was nothing more than well... nothing... he would read constantly. OK, that's an impossible lie. You got me. Wait a minute. Are we live? Turn off the camera! Turn it off! <WORD is having technical difficulties. Please hang up and try your call again. If this is a literary emergency, seek out your local librarian.>

Alicia
Alicia
Alicia is the editor for READ magazine. As a child, she had aspirations of being a spy. After some time though, it seemed like it would be a much better (and safer) idea to bring her passion for reading and writing into her professional life. Whenever possible, Alicia loves to travel and would go anywhere in the world. When time or money doesn't permit, she looks for adventures in her own neighborhood. And so, Alicia can often be found visiting new ethnic restaurants and markets in New York City. Her preferred method of travel is by train (with a good book, of course).

Jennifer
Jennifer is an adjunct writing professor at Mercy College in New York City, which basically means she works very long hours for peanuts! Jennifer realized reading and writing would be central to her life upon finishing her first chapter book in the second grade when she was supposed to be paying attention to her teacher. The book was The Elephant in the Peanut Butter. The punishment was a phone call home to her mother. The result ... well, let's just say reading and writing are a part of Jennifer.

Deb
Deb prefers to remain a mysterious entity, but is willing to let it be known that she loved reading as a kid, when she got hooked on Nancy Drew and never looked back. Today, she loves to read on her sailboat where, mercifully, there is no TV, no phone (no, not even a cell!) and no computer. Her favorite food is pizza.

Audra
Audra is the associate editor of READ magazine. She is a fully certified, self-proclaimed literature nerd whose biggest fear is dying in a tragic accident before she can get to the bottom of her book list. (Seriously guys, if something happens to me and I never finish reading Ulysses, I'll be totally T.O.ed in the afterlife.) When she's not facing literary/death paranoia, Audra is a culture-phile who loves bands, theater, late-night art shows, big words, abandoned buildings, costumes, and general acts of tom foolery. She spends a lot of time writing on old typewriters. Also, she appreciates the good people at READ for putting up with her weirdness on the regular.

PAST CONTRIBUTORS

Jessica
Jessica
Jessica is the associate editor for the pop-culture magazine Know Your World Extra. She loves anything and everything associated with pop culture and prides herself on being able to recite random facts about bands, movies, and TV shows. That is not to say she doesn't like to write and read though, because she does. Jessica especially likes "chick lit" books. (She used to love the horror genre and all things Stephen King, but now she gets too scared.) Her favorite quote about writing is from the movie Get Shorty: "I once asked this literary agent, uh, what kind of writing paid the best... he said, 'Ransom notes.'" Of course, she is joking and loves being a writer. Jessica also hates speaking in the third person, so she will stop right about ... now.

  Jeffrey
Jeff
Jeff wore many hats during his time here at Weekly Reader (2005-2007). He worked on Know Your World Extra, was the News Group editor, and in his spare time, entertained us all with stick figures. Jeff moved to Massachusetts but he still writes for many different Weekly Reader periodicals.
