Ready to write? Are you hungry for writing fun?

Hungry like the wolf? By the way, have you ever been so hungry you wolfed down your dinner?
(Whoa ... hold on. In that first question I used wolf as a noun. In the second question I used wolf as a verb.)

Is that right? Can I do that? Sure I can.
Do you know why? I just did, and so can you.

Lots of animal names have become verbs. Just think about parrots, rats, weasels, and badgers. They can all be used as verbs. Check it out:

   1. That kid parrots everything I say.
   2. I was late to school yesterday and my sister ratted on me.
   3. I don't know how, but Simon keeps weaseling out of doing his chores.
   4. Your honor, the prosecution is badgering the witness.

How did these animals become verbs? Simple, someone in the history of the English language (someone like Shakespeare) decided to try it, other people liked it, and presto. New verb.

So here's your mission:

If you've got the eagle eye to spot an animal name that would make a good verb, write a sentence using it as a verb. Then click "post your comment" and put that sentence up for the world to see. Before long people will be cheetahing to the nearest bookstores to buy new dictionaries and ferreting through them to find your animal verb.
