Jives' Top Five Band Names:

1. The Buddy System

Anyone who's ever been a first grader on a field trip owes their life to the buddy system, so this band will have a happy, friendly vibe. (I found out this was an actual band after I thought of the name.)

2. No Emergency Brake

This band will have more of an out-of-control energy. There will probably be a heavy metal guitar sound.

3. The Dexters

Obviously an electronica band. They sound kind of nerdy, but in a cool way.

4. The Metropolice

This band will have an urban edge. (Once again, turns out this is a real band. Whodathunkit?)

5. The Strandeds

An emo band staring at their shoes and playing catchy power ballads.

(Bonus Name)

6. The Funky Frying Pan Experience

Also known as The FFPE, this group will be a party band. The idea is that their concerts are so good, that before you know it, the sun is rising and it’s time to fry up some breakfast.

1)
"15-4-19-54, Right Carlos?"
It's just what I happened to overhear in the office right now. Seems cryptic enough. Maybe too busy.

2)
"Slaughterhouse High-Five"
Based on (of course) the oh so awesome Kurt Vonnegut book. Except with these guys, you know they're less about being disjointed in time and more about expressing their enthusiasm with up-in-the-air-hand-slaps! Yah!

3)
"The Larry Perth Experience"
No one knows who Larry Perth is! He's an enigma! The perfect band name!

4)
"My Mom Bakes Better Cookies Than Yours"
It's true. She does. This band is a bit cocky, but they have the right to be. Check out their hit single: "All Out Of Flour". It's a heartbreaker.

5)
"Monkey Monkey"
Why? Because nothing beats a monkey when it comes to sheer awesomeness... EXCEPT TWO MONKEYS!!!!!!

I'm partial to #3.

There's an actual band called "Say Hi To Your Mom."

I already have the posters made up for #5:

May 10th at the Paladium
Monkey Monkey
with special guests Bananarama and Alpha Kong
$10 cover or just waive a shiny object at the bouncer.

We have it on good information that the Editor of writing has a band name to contribute. Here it is:

1) Pepper Pot Soup – An arty, avant-garde jazz band. The music is sure to become strange and annoying, but you stay for a while longer because all band members are Andy Warhol look-alikes. Bring your own spoon.

2) EXIT 54 – Funky jazz with lots of soul. It will be hard to remain seated, you may feel the need to boogie. Or if you’re driving, and it’s blasting in your car, you’ll completely forget where you’re going, and whiz past your exit.

3) The Dream Diaries – a tranquil mix of downtempo electronica and rock. If you listen to Sirius Radio, you’d hear them on the “Chill” channel. Hey – while this is not a real band, I just found a band called “Diary of Dreams”, but after checking out their website, I highly doubt they’d be on the Chill channel. yikes: http://www.diaryofdreams.de/_en/index.html

4) Slumber Party – my daughter wants to have a sleep-over for her birthday, so this band would play that teeny-bopper music little girls love. Cute boys are singing, of course, would make them all giddy.

I’m going to stop at four, since the last two country band names I came up with are taken, y’all (Peach Pie and Dime Store Band).
