- Story by Rachel T., Grade 8

Once upon a time lived a great frog in the capitol of Yardin. He had everything including all the cute girl frogs, money, and friends. Most of this was due to the fact that he was the great prince of Yardin. His father was the King who ruled the land and he was slowly getting older.

One day a girl frog that he was hanging out with, got very upset about a spot on the bottom of her hand. She stormed away and hopped into the forest never stopping to look back. The great prince went after her and knew that she would die if he didn't. It was going to rain so hard that if she went too far she would be swept away forever. He cried out to her to stop but she kept going so he followed her to a big road. He shouted, "No!" ... but it was too late. The girl frog had been run over by a human vehicle.

The frog prince was heartbroken but he knew that he had to hurry back to the capitol of Yardin or he would be swept away by the rain. He also knew that if he died, his evil cousin would take the throne and punish everyone for the strike against his father's company where the frog workers were harshly treated.

It started to rain and the prince was nowhere near the Capitol. He looked for shelter high up so he wouldn't be swept away by the rain. The only shelter he found was a couple bushes near a human house with a big human vehicle like the one that ran over his girl frog. He took the risk and went looking for a branch that he could jump on to. He finally found one. It was a large bush and it was big enough that the water couldn't get to him. He climbed up a bit and he felt like he was on top of the world. He had never been that high up in his life. The water kept rising and rising soon it was close to him so he scurried up the bush.

Soon he was up at the top of the bush and he was on a single branch and there was one single leaf protecting him from the hard rain. He was saddened when he saw the humans come out and say that the rain would last for a really long time. He didn't want to stay up on this branch any longer. What the poor prince didn't know was that he was missed greatly back at home and that there were frog soldiers out looking for him.

The soldiers went all around Yardin searching for him. When they finally found him they swam to him with a great throne to float him back to the Capitol.

When they got back to the Capitol, they set him on a large podium and he gave a speech on how the girl died and told about how he got trapped on the branch. Little did he know that the girl was safe and the frog that got ran over was from another kingdom.

Later that night when the prince was relaxing by the fire the girl knocked on his door. When she came in the prince was so surprised. He asked her to marry her and she did. They lived happily ever after.
