Welcome to Career World's
November/December 2006
Web extension!

Our cover story this month focuses on three people who don't mind getting their hands a little dirty; in fact, it's what they do for a living. Students who love to create, build, and manipulate materials with their hands will enjoy "Hands On Experience" (page 8), where they'll meet a bike mechanic, a woodworker, and a sculptor. For another profile of a hands-on professional, a massage therapist, click here.

Bringing two-dimensional characters to life is the daily work of a computer animator. On page 12, students will learn what it takes to become an animator and what the daily work is like. We're also providing a bonus online
example of an animator's career path.

This month Career World launches the second annual "What's Your Career Story?" essay contest. Students are invited to submit profiles of people whose careers they admire --- whether it's a famous person or their next-door neighbor. Winners will be announced in April 2007.
