Residents of Orme, Tenn., are getting only a few hours of water each evening because a drought across the Southeast has left their town's spring nearly dry. At least they know the situation won't last much longer. Mayor Tony Reames says the city hopes to have a new water pipe connection to a neighboring town operating soon. The lead lawyer for the Army Corps of Engineers says Georgia’s governor is exaggerating the chance of Atlanta running out of water. Earl Stockdale told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Atlanta’s water “is not in imminent—and I emphasize ‘imminent’—danger of running out.” Gov. Sonny Perdue has said Atlanta could run out of water in the next three months. Perdue organized an interfaith prayer service to pray for rain and understanding on November 13.
