• In Myanmar, soldiers have been raiding people’s homes at night and arresting people suspected of belonging to a pro-democracy group. Buddist monks have also been arrested. Internet access has also been blocked and the only news is coming from state-run newspapers. Read more about the situation in this article from The Associated Press.

• In Jena, La., Mayor Murphy McMillin is expected to appoint an interracial committee to study race relations in the small town. Officials hope the committee will find ways to improve the strained race situation in the town. Read more in Education Week.
