How We Vote We vote by secret ballot On Election Day So no one can see how we vote. Nothing can stand in our way. Behind a curtain that’s closed We can make our choice By voting for whom we want We can use our political voice. When we cast our votes this way The election’s truly fair. We can look at all the candidates And then vote with care. -Sheila Forsyth I Want To Vote I want to vote When I grow up, To let my country know— The person that I think is best To help our country grow. -Virginia H. Niles Fire! If there’s a fire, What should you do? Get out of the house If it’s safe for you to. Go to your meeting spot, Call 911. Wait with your family Until the fire’s all gone. -Sheila Forsyth Trying I’m trying to be very brave In all I say and do, But when I hear the fire bell ring, I shiver through and through. -Pauline C. Peck Dinosaurs Some dinosaurs were big, Some dinosaurs were small, Some of them were kind of short And other very tall. Some dinosaurs ate plants While some ate only meat. Some even looked like horses, With little padded feet. Some dinosaurs were fast, While others were quite slow, But no matter what their shape or size, They lived long, long ago. -Deborah Garmon 5 Giant Dinosaurs 5 giant dinosaurs, listen to them roar! One stomped away, and then there were four. 4 giant dinosaurs ate green leaves. One got sick, and then there were three. 3 giant dinosaurs, but off one flew! Now count the dinosaurs. There are only two. 2 giant dinosaurs went for a run. One got lost, now there’s only one. 1 giant dinosaur, tired as could be, Fell to the ground, and soon was fast asleep. -Marie E. Cecchini Bats Little brown bats are gentle And they are very shy. They have strong toes and large wings That help them stretch and fly. Bats eat big mosquitoes And other bugs with wings. They move quite quickly in the dark And don’t bump into things. A bat makes clicking noises Out in the dark of night Then he listens for the echoes To help him to fly right. -Deborah Garmon
