How We Vote We vote by secret ballot On Election Day So no one can see how we vote. Nothing can stand in our way. Behind a curtain that’s closed We can make our choice By voting for whom we want We can use our political voice. When we cast our votes this way The election’s truly fair. We can look at all the candidates And then vote with care. -Sheila Forsyth I Want To Vote I want to vote When I grow up, To let my country know— The person that I think is best To help our country grow. -Virginia H. Niles Fire! If there’s a fire, What should you do? Get out of the house If it’s safe for you to. Go to your meeting spot, Call 911. Wait with your family Until the fire’s all gone. -Sheila Forsyth Trying I’m trying to be very brave In all I say and do, But when I hear the fire bell ring, I shiver through and through. -Pauline C. Peck Fall Leaves are falling gently down, Orange, yellow, red, and brown. Whirling, twirling, round and round, Quietly they touch the ground. -Marie E. Cecchini Observation Look around in fall And what do you see? Squirrels hiding nuts As they scamper up a tree. Birds flying south, Children walking to school, Getting ready for winter As the air turns cool. -Marie E. Cecchini The Spider Web I watched a tiny spider With the smartest spider head As she made somewhere inside her A magic silken thread. I watched her as she fastened Each silver thread in place Until she had a shining web Of perfect spider lace. -Julia Collins Ardayne Tiny Spider Tiny spider spins a web. She works and works all day. She never stops to take a rest, She never stops to play. Soon her web is finished, So she sits and waits for lunch. She hopes her web will trap a bug, Upon which she can munch. -Marie E. Cecchini
