Welcome to READ magazine's special issue featuring everyone's favorite Victorian storyteller, Charles Dickens.

Jeff Ives provides an adaptation of Oliver Twist for our Center Stage read aloud play. This is one of  Dickens's most famous tales of a boy born into poverty who finds his way in and out of some of London's seedier  situations.

"The Child's Story" is one of Dickens's shortest and strangest short stories with an unusual narrative voice.

This issue's Lit Scene Investigation, takes a closer look at Dickens's style and his characters by examining an excerpt from Oliver Twist.

And finally, Steven Frank provides us with a modern take on Dickens, and reading him today. "Twist of Fate," is a story about Zoey, an unenthused reader who gets more than she bargained for when she finally dives into Oliver Twist.

We hope that this issue exceeds even your greatest expectations.

If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or if you just want to say hello, you can write to us at read@weeklyreader.com. And don't forget to check out our literary blog, WORD, at www.readandwriting.com
