READ magazine is happy to present our latest issue, poetry! This 32-page issue examines what poetry is and why we love it. From staff favorites to student writing, we take a long look into that expansive and beautiful genre. 
Introducing Spoon River Anthology, our Center Stage play. This play, written entirely in verse by Edgar Lee Masters and adapted by Bryon Cahill, is a series of monologues from townsfolk who recall their lives from beyond the grave.
Mark Flanagan introduces us to the theme in his essay, "What Is Poetry?" And the editors at READ seek to answer that question by with a look at their favorite poems. The authors include Billy Collins, Walt Whitman, Linda Pastan, and Li-Young Lee.
