WELCOME! to Current Health 2's Web
extension for April/May 2008.

Everyone loves a good prank (as long as nobody gets hurt), but this April we're encouraging readers to prove that they're no fools. What teens may lack in life experience, they more than make up for with ambition, spirit, and a willingness to help those around them. These are all the ingredients youre students will need to participate in this year's Global Youth Service Day.

To get your class interested in this fun opportunity to give back to their community, the last CH2 of the school year features a pair of articles about the benefits of volunteering. As "Give a Little, Get a Lot" reveals, brightening the lives of others doesn't just feel good--it's actually good for your health, too. In "Profiles in Caring," we spotlight four teens who put this theory into practice and enjoy the difference they make in the world.

We hope this issue inspires you and your students to try a volunteer project or two. Let us know how you do! Best wishes for a great summer vacation, and we'll see you again in the fall.

Cordially,

Meredith Matthews

**Special feature: Are cases of drug-resistant infections like MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) popping up in your community? To help your students learn more about this growing health problem, Current Health 2 is making available an article on MRSA we published in December 2006. Click here to access it.
