Story Stew Contest
Students can enter this contest by writing a 200- to 300-word story using at least four of the objects shown in the "Story Stew" info zone in issue 6. (Objects include: squirrel, sneaker, bee, airplane, tomato, volcano, car, padlock, key, onion, boxing gloves, trophy, football, onion.)
Students should e-mail their stories to wrnews@weeklyreader.com by Nov. 6, 2009.
The writer of the most creative story will win a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com.

Make a Difference Contest
Students can enter this contest by writing a 200- to 400-word essay explaining how they are making a difference in the world around them. Examples include volunteering, raising money for a good cause, and planting trees. Send entries, postmarked by Nov. 20, 2009, to:
