Get published in Writing! Students have the opportunity to have their work online and in print throughout the school year. Please visit this page and our blog WORD for regular updates and listings.

• Treasured Objects - Students grades 6-12 compete in three categories for a chance to win a cash prize and publication of a short story or poem in the April/May issue of Writing.  Finalists will be selected by award-winning poet Naomi Shihab Nye.  Deadline: all entries must be postmarked by Nov. 12, 2007.  Download complete rules and entry form.
• Student Writing Showcase - This spring, Writing will publish a special electronic issue entirely devoted to student writing. We're looking for fresh, artistic student voices. Have your students e-mail their original poems, essays, and stories (and optional illustrations or photographs) to word@weeklyreader.com. Make sure students writing "Student Writing Showcase" in the subject line. Deadline: Jan. 11, 2008.
• Weekly Writer – Lois Lowry has started a story "The Sub." Students across America decide what happens next.  Click here to read the story starter and get more details. Deadline: Ongoing.
